I came across this interesting info, so like to share it with you. Also found the datasheet, see below. 73' Eene.
“REMEC" or similar 27/28 Ghz LMDS RF hardware for some Richardson/Spectrapoint Link equipment can have nice power modules.
The PA deck is made by NANOWAVE Technologies and it's actually a Mixer/PA combination that is specified for 1 Watt at circa 27/28 Ghz.
From testing AS-IS, they will NOT work below about 26.5 GHz.
However, for those lucky individuals who purchased some of these "decks", I have wonderful news.
By milling off the laser welded lid, disconnecting the Osc & IF Inputs and "loosely" coupling 24 GHz RF into the PA part of this module, I have measured +35 dBm at 24028.1 MHz!!
That's a tad more than 3 Watts!!!
This "grunt" gets my small WR-28 Load HOT to touch!!
There is still plenty more work to do and I will do a "write-up" on the Modification if there are others out there with this unused hardware.
