Hello Microwavers,

Although I did not attend the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) that just concluded in Sharm-el-Shiekh, I did closely monitor the happenings. The output of every  WRC includes the Agenda  for the next WRC, which is now scheduled for 2023. This agenda serves as a blueprint for the studies that will be done in preparation for this upcoming WRC.

On the Agenda for the 2023 WRC is an item that seeks to identify the 10 - 10,5. GHz band for use in the Americas by International Mobile Telecommunications or IMT . IMT is a codename for cellular telecommunication systems. If this does not make you uneasy, it should.  The proliferation of cellular towers in the 10 GHz amateur band would just about make the 10 GHz band unusable by the amateur community.

You may remember an FCC Petition for Rulemaking a few years ago that was submitted by a company named Mimosa, suggesting that they could provide broadband data service to many people by using the 10 GHz band. They were generous as they left 50 MHz out of the USA 500 MHz amateur allocation for use by us. This WRC Agenda Item has the potential for far greater deployment and no space for amateurs.

Now is the time to get organized and resist this encroachment on what is the most popular amateur microwave band. I'm sure that the ARRL will get involved in the preparations as will the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU).

After the output of the planning meeting for the next ITU-R work cycle concludes early next week, I will be able to advise interested individuals about when and where the preparations will be held.

The time to get involved is now, not 3 years from now when all of the studies will have been completed and the governmental positions solidified.

Een andere leuke optie met een ADF4351 is een ontwerp met een kleine PIC om een beperkt aantal vaste kanalen te genereren,
 Ik gebruik een ontwerp van F5UBZ met een PIC 12F675.  Zie http://f5ubz.fr/adf4351/ADF4351_F5UBZ.html

 Hierin kunnen 4 kanalen worden opgeslagen. Om zelf  frequenties te kunnen laden heb je een aantal programma's die registerdata berekent en converteert naar het juiste protocol.  info volgt

Al een hele tijd had ik de onderdelen liggen voor voor de signaal generator beschreven door Hans PA0RWE en BG6KHC.
Omdat ik voor  ATV en smalband projecten wat signalen tekort kwam heb ik toch maar even een print gemaakt voor de besturing met de PIC 16F452.

Bijgevoegd de (Sprint)printlayout en wat foto's van de componenten opstelling.
Advies zorg voor een goede ontkoppeling van de voedingspanning en aarding van de ADF4351 print.
Nota: Waarschijnlijk zit er een bug in de software voor de stap grootte 1KHZ en kleiner. De uitangsfrequentie wijkt dan af van het display. Dit wordt uitgezocht.

Ik las een merkwaardig bericht in de nieuwste dubus 2/2019 op pagina 129 (zie bijlage) over een ?op handen zijnde? verschuiving van het smalband stuk vd 13 cm band. Dit is merkwaardig omdat het volgens onze gepubliceerde bandplannen (veron vademecum 2016 pag 148) dit bandsegment alleen voor uplink satellietverkeer mag worden gebruikt. Daarnaast loopt de internationale ISM-band van 2400 tot 2500MHz en we willen toch niet middenin de meuk gaan zitten. Ik heb dit in electron van mei/juni/juli ook niet gezien of heb ik hier overheen gelezen? een antwoord op een reactie naar vhf-en-hoger@veron.nl op 12 juni (!) is tot op heden uitgebleven ?? wel kreeg ik een reactie van Chris PA3CRX op het veron techniek forum.
Eerlijk gezegd vind ik de move een beetje raar gezien het feit dat we dichterbij in frequentie van de microwave ovens (typ 2450MHz+/-vele MHz)en de wifi-zooi (2412-2484MHz)schuiven. Een ongelukkige zet ook omdat ruzie met de buren niet uit te sluiten valt ivm wifi verstoring. Ik heb helaas de vraag van Rob PE1ITR niet gezien en misschien was een publicatie in Electron toch voor de hand liggender geweest. Het is bij toeval dat mijn aandacht getrokken werd in de laatste Dubus van 2019 anders had ik, en denk velen met mij, hiervan nog nooit kennis van kunnen nemen.
